3-Hour Whales and Wildlife Zodiac Outing

It is important to note that during this time of year whales are often viewed, but are not guaranteed. Time is spent with various west coast marine wildlife. May 1- October 31 “Whale Watching Tours” are offered by the Zodiac and whales are consistently present. Whale activity varies by season. Southern Resident Orcas are sighted regularly April through November. November through May, the Zodiac searches for transient killer whales, seals, sea lions and porpoises. Humpbacks have been sighted consistently for the past five years September through January. Occasionally, gray whales visit at various times throughout the year. Transient orcas are sighted all year but are most apparent during the winter season. During the winter months, Prince of Whales has a 50-75% success rate of finding whales; but rest assured, there’s lot of other sea life out there too. Harbour seals, elephant seals, Dall’s porpoise, harbour porpoise and California and Steller sea lions are just a few of the species you may encounter. The Zodiac can get as close as 100 metres, but in an effort to protect these gorgeous creatures, their space is respected at all times.
